Sonic The Comic #38 - October 1994
 | "Robotnik's Revenge - Part Two" Writer: Nigel Kitching Artist: Richard Elson
Massive and well drawn fight scenes ensure as Sonic, Tails Johnny must fight Robotnik inside their base whilst Porker protects the Ring that he stored the Kintobar computer on. When Knuckles arrives they manage to turn the odds back on their side but there's still a minor army of Badniks following them. When the durst clears Robotnik has escaped and Knuckles leaves on a flying egg that Robotnik left behind and Sonic and co begin their charade as Bob Beaky's travelling circus.
"Zonerunner And The Flock - Part Four" Writer: Nigel Kitching Artist: Roberto Corona
Nutzan has Tails cornered yet again, but the canny young fox crushes him in an electronic door, decapitating him and causing him to retreat. Whilst this is going on, The Flock re-secure the toxic waste, thus saving the Emerald Hill Zone. Tails is hailed as a hero, but - as ever - receives only a dressing down from Sonic when he returns home.
And, as ever, the villain is defeated by pure dumb luck and the fox`s incompetence as he frantically tries to escape. If the purpose of these solo stories is really to see Tails maturing and developing an individual identity, then almost eighteen months into the comic's run would surely be a good point to see some signs?

Sonic The Comic #39 - November 1994
 | "Sonic No More?" Writer: Nigel Kitching Artist: Ferran Rodrigues
Fleetway loves reminding us that Sonic wasn't always blue and that his speed was a result of an accident, so it turns out that Professor Neinstein created a machine capable of switching the accident before he died. Robotnik and Grimer ambush Sonic on his morning run and stick Sonic's powers into Robotnik. The result: A pathetic spiky brown hedgehog and a super fast fat blue Robotnik.
Fortunately when Badniks arrive they open fire on Robotnik mistaking him for Sonic, Grimer switches the settings and Sonic smashes the machine.
"The Carnival Night Conspiracy - Part One" Writer: Nigel Kitching Artist: Richard Elson
Knuckles returns from the events of `Robotnik`s Revenge` to find that an amusement park has mysteriously sprung up on the Floating Island. When he investigates, the Marxio Brothers appear, with a proposal...
Readers who expected Knuckles` entrance to follow up a suitably dramatic, enigmatic (and a few more -atics that I don`t feel like going into at the moment) opening story were suddenly confronted with some less than subtle apparent comic relief.

Sonic The Poster Magazine #8 - November 1994
 | "The Chaos Emerald Thief" Writer: Nigel Kitching Artist: Bojan Djukic
Sonic and Knuckles spend a strip bickering like an old married couple as they pursue the criminal responsible for stealing the purple Chaos Emerald from under Knuckles' nose.
This story ticks all of the requisite character trait reminders: stubbornness, strength, gullibility and an unusual level of making it obvious that the two of them don't really dislike each other all that much.

Sonic The Poster Magazine #9 - December 1994
 | "Trapped in the Vortex" Writer: Lew Stringer Artist: Nigel Dobbyn
As Sonic and Tails travel to the Labyrinth Zone to investigate reports of kidnappings by Robotnik, the end of another year has Tails wondering whether or not their actions're really making a difference to the Mobian struggle. Sonic doesn't have much time to tell him to snap out of it before they're ambushed by a squad of Motobugs, who - whilst Tails can fly to safety - cause Sonic to plunge head first into a whirlpool!
With the non-swimming Sonic fighting his own battles underwater, Tails is in a quandary about whether to help his friend or the kidnap squad he can see. As he chooses to save the Mobians first, Sonic escapes and congratulates his sidekick on knowing to make the right decision when it counted, prompting a fit of self-realisation.
Stringer always seemed to be a little more sympathetic to the fox as far as character development went.
